Kid Planning Sessions

Schedule a time to have a planning session with each of your children.  I do my Kid Sessions on Sunday, choose whatever day you judge to be the spring board to when you reset your week. 

Adult Brings:
  • Weekly Fridge Calendar/Planner
  • Homemaker Binder
  • Personal Calendar Book & To Do List Book
  • Grocery/Errand List
Child brings:
  • school backpack or homeschool binder
  • homework clip

Here is a picture of my friend's list that she goes down and over with each child. 


I modified it and after our first session I think I'll be modifying it again to tailor it to our family's needs, but it will give you an idea of where to start and what to talk to your kids about.  Make columns on the right for however many kids you have.  Here's a link to my list (hope that works) or you can try to copy and paste it from below:

Weekly Planning & Calendar Checklist

Bring Backpack and homework clip
Review goal list for kids & my goals for them - include:
  • What book are they reading?
  • Any questions about music for Dad?
  • Church Goal
Scheduling Binder & calendar
  • tests - library days - book reports
  • Write on calendar sports, practices, games, recitals, rehearsals, field trips & performances
  • Anything else?
Homework Clip
  • Parent Teacher Conference Goals
  • Review homework, fix mistakes on schoolwork
  • Check for homework completed and planners & papers signed for Monday.
  • Sign reading minutes
Schedule One on One
Schedule Stay Up Late night - remember the goals and purpose of them  
   - talk, laugh, play a game, journal memories, pray, hug & kiss and I love you
Set up / discuss One on One for each child
Schedule “Bedroom Check” Day - seek “room check” list of instructions
Weekly and Monthly Job List - fill in needed items
Fill in child’s Saturday chores - Yardwork & Mother’s Helper list
Need anything from store?
Service for a Sibling
